Corner Pet Shop and Townhouse

Two buildings, one street corner: a three-storey pet shop with a menagerie in the window, and the narrow townhouse leaning against it. It is the small domestic detail, the potted plants, the cat on the sill, that makes this one a favourite.

The pet shop holds a shop floor of animals and supplies, a hinged staircase for access, and an apartment and loft above. Next door, the townhouse runs from a ground-floor living room up a spiral staircase to a bedroom and a planted roof terrace. Both lift apart floor by floor, and the two facades together read as a single continuous corner.
